The Technique Approach To:
Hip Pain

Here at The Technique PT, we’ve helped many people suffering from hip pain, which often involves the lower back too. We include the sacral region and pelvic pain in this category because the spine, pelvis, and hip are so closely connected.

Common issues include bursitis or tendonitis in the hip muscles – conditions we see frequently and problems which won’t go away on their own. Structural issues like labral tears or hip impingement may occur due to abnormalities in the joint structure, leading to pain during specific movements. Trauma, such as fractures or dislocations from falls or accidents, is also a frequent cause, particularly in older adults.

Muscle imbalances, poor posture, or weak core muscles can exacerbate hip pain by placing additional stress on the joint. Identifying the root cause is vital for effective treatment and recovery.

What Are The Symptoms Of Hip Pain?

Many people who come to The Technique PT with hip pain report discomfort in the hip joint, groin, thigh, or buttocks. The pain can be sharp, stabbing, or dull and achy, sometimes radiating down the leg. Stiffness and reduced range of motion are common, making it difficult to bend, squat, or rotate the hip.

In some cases, hip pain worsens with activity, such as walking, running, or climbing stairs, while others find it challenging to remain seated for extended periods. Discomfort at night can disrupt sleep, especially when lying on the affected site. Conditions like arthritis may cause chronic pain and stiffness that progressively impact mobility.

His pain significantly affects daily life, and simple tasks like putting on shoes, standing up, or getting into a car become difficult. For active individuals, hip pain can hinder exercise routines, sports participation or even playing with children. Over time, it may lead to reduced independence and more reliance on others. Left untreated, hip pain can cause compensation in other joints or muscles, potentially worsening the problem. Early intervention and treatment are crucial for restoring mobility and quality of life.

What Is Our Approach To Treating Hip Pain?

For those looking for lasting relief from hip pain, we take a comprehensive and holistic approach at The Technique PT. Using our ForceDeck system with advanced force plates we assess muscle imbalances and tightness in all planes of motion. This technology allows us to pinpoint weaknesses and tailor interventions accordingly. We release tight areas with mobilization techniques and build strength in your core and deep abdominals, teaching proper movement to reduce stress on the hip.

Our treatment plan includes manual therapy techniques to release tight structures and improve joint mobility, addressing restrictions in all planes of motion.

As pain decreases, we implement a targeted strengthening program emphasizing how to use their core, but we provide education to ensure proper muscle recruitment and movement patterns. This approach minimizes stress on the hip, promoting efficient and pain-free movement.

Our services extend beyond traditional physical therapy. We offer performance physical therapy, small group and private Muay Thai sessions, and movement workshops for back health, all led by our doctors of physical therapy and martial arts instructors.

By integrating these diverse services, we aim to enhance overall function and help patients achieve their fitness goals. Our holistic approach ensures that individuals not only recover from hip pain but also gain the knowledge and skills to maintain their health and prevent future issues.

Ultimately, our goal is to help you return to your fitness goals pain-free.
