At The Technique Physical Therapy, we specialize in treating sports-related injuries. Many of our team are athletes themselves so we understand the many questions that come up, like, “When can I safely return to my sport?” Many people feel frustrated when they’re stuck in a particular recovery phase, unsure if it’s safe to run, jump, play a game, or even attend practice. We help patients determine the right time to return, using continuous testing and resting to guide the process.

We understand the movements required for various sports because our team are actively involved in basketball, running, weightlifting, jiu-jitsu, and Muay Thai. Our approach pushes boundaries, identifying what you can and cannot do while avoiding unnecessary sidelining. For example, in throwers with rotator cuff tendonitis or biceps tendon issues, we thoroughly assess the shoulder to rule out serious conditions like labral tears that might require surgery. We focus on motion, strength, soft tissue work, and releasing tight muscles, followed by strengthening stabilizing muscles in the thoracic spine, scapula, and rotator cuff.

We also teach whole-body mechanics, often incorporating programs to reduce shoulder strain. Additionally, we treat conditions like cupping, gua sha, deep tissue work, and ankle mobilizations. Strengthening and movement mechanics are emphasized, with a focus on proper footwear to prevent further issues. Ultimately, we aim to build your capacity to handle daily movements – whether it’s running, jumping, hiking, or simply navigating your neighborhood.
